Logitech G502 Hero Mouse
60-Second Advertisement
The programs used in this project were Blender and Adobe Premier Pro.
Initial Approach
I felt a bit lost when brainstorming ideas for a 60-second advertisement. I thought of many items like books, art supplies, and electronics. I didn’t know how to sell them. I decided to pick an object I use every day while sitting at my computer doing these projects. My handy-dandy mouse. I’ve had this gaming mouse for years. I know I have different opinions from my friends on this specific model, which made for a fun challenge. Before designing storyboards and figuring out assets, I had to complete market research. This included creating an audience profile with demographics and psychographics and a persona to reference back to while working.
When it came to doing competitive research on other gaming mouse brands, it was helpful that I had friends who also owned gaming mice. The selection was varied and assisted in my market research. The research I completed definitely aided in the approach I took when creating storyboards for the animation.

Storyboard
I would say that creating a storyboard for this project felt rather loose. I wanted to put my ideas into action but felt that for this video class I wouldn’t be able to perform to the fullest. I wanted close-up shots that I wouldn’t get from filming. The angles I was imagining were something you’d get from creating a 3D model.
Blender
So……. I decided to try out Blender. It was my last quarter before graduating, and I wanted to take a new skill with me. I’d learned Adobe software, but I’d never expanded to trying out 3D models. I found one YT video that was someone creating the exact same mouse in 45 minutes. I thought it shouldn’t be too hard. Wrong. That 45-minute video turned into me slowing it down and working for weeks, just to create a model of the mouse.
The progress checkpoints in class didn’t show much, as I was moving very slowly in trying to be precise. I had to speed it up. I ditched the video about halfway through and told myself, “It’s time to do this on my own.” I couldn’t try to figure out every little detail the video was doing, and my workflow started speeding up as I used what I’d learned from the first half of the video.
The whole project was a challenge but expanded my knowledge into the creation of 3D models. I also had to animate this, in which I decided to also learn how to film within Blender. It was a lot different using cameras and lights within software to create an atmosphere that conveyed the vibe. I was able to create those close-up shots that showed off grooves in the mouse. It was an amazing feeling when the model was complete.
